Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin grew up in the countryside of Russia with his loving mother and father. Vladimir Putin is currently the Russian President, and his term is slated to run until 2008. Putin became the acting president on December 31st, 1999. He was first sworn in as the presidential leader on May 7th, 2000. In 2004 he was elected for his second term, in which he will be until 2008. However the laws governed by the people of Russia prohibit Putin to returning for a 3rd term. Some in the West fear he is establishing a system where he will stay on longer. Putin denies this charge and says he will step aside when the time comes.
Putin was born and raised in modern day Saint Petersburg, October 7th, 1952. He has written a biography book, which was paid for by his campaign for his second term. His mother (Maria Ivanovna Putina) was a hard woman; she worked in the factories along side his father (Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin). Who was later enlisted into the Soviet Army. He served as a submariner in the early 1930’s. Putin had 2 elder brothers, the first died soon after his birth, and the second brother died after the Siege of Leningrad, due to diphtheria. His family was influenced long before Putin came to be. His grandfather (Spiridon Putin) served as Joseph Stalin’s personal cook, during his reign over Russia.
Vladimir Putin, was greatly influenced by school, he graduated decorated under International Branch of the Law Department of Leningrad State University in mid 1975. He was then drafted into the KGB, where after many over 10 years served was finally decorated as a Major. He served until 1990 when he was discharged. After discharge Putin went back to school to gain the education he needed, to step into the government.
Vladimir Putin gained access rather quickly as he was given access by a resigning president. He was almost immediately taken into the hearts of the people he ruled over, promising to make jobs possible for the entire country. On December 1st 2000, Putin declared the new Russian Anthem would be one that was almost forgotten, so he needed someone to write it, they wrote it with new words word that put light into the hearts of the millions living in modern day Russia. With the fall of Stalin came more media freedom in Russia, although they did not see the complete media freedom until early 1990’s when the news reporters reported the fall of the Berlin Wall. Media from Russia is beginning to crowd the Internet as the possibilities for this recovering country to get their voices heard.
Putin has gained the largest reflection on his image as a no-nonsense type of guy. From his handling of the crisis in Chechnya to his ready willingness to use oil and gas to help in negotiations with his European counterparts, Putin has established that Russia is rising from the ashes left from the collapse of the Soviet Union.
